  Laptop Magazine: Security Hardware

Security should be user friendly; otherwise, you’ll end up taking shortcuts that compromise it. With SecurSoftware’s SecurLock, just plug the SecurCard key into your laptop or Tablet PC’s USB port, type a PIN, and you’re logged in. Remove the key, and your machine is locked.

Locking files and folders is equally straightforward: select them, then choose the type of encryption. Locked files can be securely transferred by disk or e-mail, which the recipient can decrypt only by using a password provided by the sender. For further security, the algorithm to decrypt locked files is stored on the SecurCard rather than exposed on the hard drive. The latest version, SecurLock 1.3, also shreds files, making them completely unrecoverable.

Compatible with Windows 2000 Professional or later, the $125 SecurLock system simplifies sign-ons to password-protected Web sites and e-mail accounts by storing your username and password in profiles, which you drag and drop onto the site or application.
